Twitter Killed my….
So, I’ve heard the statement, “Twitter killed my blog.” I have to say, it confuses me a little bit. Twitter is killing a lot of things, including Facebook, but I don’t think it’s killing the blog.
To me, it’s opened my eyes a little bit. I see now, everything is becoming micro or instant. If the seemingly 3 minute laser show at Stone Mountain wasn’t a clue for me, there are hints everywhere. The new monopoly game, designed to be played in 20 minutes and instant grits. (don’t get me started) Things are changing to fit the trend of micro, or instant. If you don’t believe me, have you been on Facebook lately? Things are changing, and there is nothing we can do about it…. is there?
As a Christ Follower should this concern me? Does this speak about not only what our generation is looking for, but is it a sign of what’s to come? How do we tell people that being a Christ Follower is more than a 20 minute decision. How do we tell people that witnessing, or sharing faith is going to take more than 140 characters? I don’t believe that His Love needs to be made (buzz word alert) ‘relevant’, but do we need to adapt to fit culture, or does the basis of what we believe show that change is part of believing, and we have to live that purposefully? What, as the body of Christ, can we do to slow people down? To make people not look for that instant gratification?
In a world of Twitter, 20 minute Monopoly, and instant grits, how do we show people that there is reward in anything else? How do we show people The Way, if it will require a lifelong change?
I don’t know if any of this will make sense, I’m just thinking outloud here.

You keep thinking bro, keep the notes and turn it into a book someday. Title it, “Your life: In 140 Characters”.
People are gonna be people…..they're gonna be sinners….they're gonna do whatever is popular. That's a fact. Can you or me stop it? No! It will continue to get faster and shorter, with different methods of making that work, or the cycle will turn, people will figure out it doesn't work and it will slow down. In the end, does it even matter? If I plant seeds for Salvation in a sermon of 60 minutes or in a Twitter line, I still planted seeds, right? You keep doing what you're doing; living your life as much like He did as possible and people will have no choice but to notice.
Now then, whether God chooses to use your actions to move them, is up to Him.
Bottom line of my lil rant here: Don't stress over things you can't control with your own hands or mouth.
I see what you do, and I'm not the only schmuck reading; you know what you do, and most importantly, God sees what you do. Period! At the end of the day, that is enough.

I don't know man. Because we know we can't fully change people, does that mean we can't try? and I don't mean, beat them upside the head with the Bible or anything.. I mean.. the thought, “It's up to God.” is true, but at the same time are we not the body of Christ, so shouldn't we think about this stuff, and try to be proactive as opposed to staying stagnant and repeating, “God has this, God has this.”
I do get your point… but at the same time.. I have a problem with it.. you know?

Brother Andy,
Twitter is just one of many communications tools. Used wisely 140 char is more than enough to open the door to fuller communication of God’s Word.
If Paul could have tweeted to the early churches, do you think he would have made use of twitter…in between emails and blog posts, that is?
Frustrating as it may be at times, bro, We CAN plant, We CAN Water…but, ultimately, it is our Sovereign God who gives the increase.
Consider this…a twitter bread crumb trail led me to this comment box…
IHS,
Bruce
